Keyboard field guide
Hop Earth controls
Start with focus, then verify the three driving basics before reaching for special keys. Browser layout, vehicle state, and active development can change the live overlay, so use it as the final reference.
Hop Earth driving controls
| Action | Documented keys | Practical use |
|---|---|---|
| Forward | W, Z, Up | Start or accelerate after focusing the game. |
| Brake / reverse | S, Down | Reduce speed before expecting reverse movement. |
| Steer | A / D, Left / Right | Use modest inputs until the road response is clear. |
| Increase input | Shift | Treat any boost-style behavior as live-build dependent. |
| Menu | Esc | Close or leave a supported interface without losing focus. |
Map, camera, and menu keys
Use the current in-game help panel before treating a map, camera, recovery, or vehicle shortcut as permanent. Context-sensitive actions can depend on whether a menu, chat field, race, or vehicle is active.
When the keys do nothing
If arrows scroll the outer page or letters enter a field, the game view is not focused. Close the interface that holds input, click the live 3D area once, then retest one simple movement key.
Build reliable keyboard focus before driving
Make focus the first step in every test. A browser can send the same key to search, chat, an address bar, the webpage, or the game canvas. Clicking the road view and checking for a single visible response prevents a missing-focus problem from looking like broken controls.
Separate driving, recovery, and interface actions
Confirm forward, brake, and steering first. Only after those work should you test a special action, vehicle recovery, map option, or camera feature. This order tells you whether the problem is general focus or one binding in the live build.
Diagnose control problems without losing the session
Do not reset every variable at once. Keep the road and browser stable, refocus the game, close menus, and test one key. If the car exists but still will not react, compare a simple location before concluding that the account or service is failing.
Open fixing issues →Practice controls as a repeatable driving routine
Use the same tiny loop: focus the view, move forward, brake, steer left and right, then test one interface action. A reliable routine is more useful than memorizing a long key list you cannot verify in the current session.
Field notes
Hop Earth controls field notes
Focus comes first. Click the driving surface before testing inputs. Movement comes before special actions. If basic keys work, a missing shortcut is easier to isolate. The live overlay wins. Compare it with this guide whenever the interface changes.
Hop Earth controls FAQs
What key accelerates in Hop Earth?
Try W, Z, or the Up Arrow after clicking inside the live game view.
Why is my car not responding?
First confirm focus. If the map is visible but the car never appears, use the missing car recovery guide.
